Laura Mason

Chief Executive Officer, Retail

Laura Mason was appointed Chief Executive Officer, Retail on 2 December 2024.

As well as heading up Retail, Laura sits on our Group Management Committee and chairs our Global Diversity and Inclusion Council.

Before taking up her current role, Laura led our Retirement Institutional, Capital and then most recently our Private Markets businesses, serving as CEO for each of them between 2018 and 2024. Her L&G career began in 2011 with an ALM manager role in our annuities business.

That led to a move to help set up L&G Capital, first as its Direct Investments Director and then in 2017 as its MD. During her time there Laura initiated and drove our investment in and support for the regeneration of Cardiff’s Central Square.

Improving our national infrastructure, supporting our transition to a greener future and growing our innovation economy are also strong personal ambitions for her. Laura has Board roles on our real estate partnership with Oxford University as well as Bruntwood SciTech.

Laura’s financial services career began with eight years consulting for major UK life insurers at Towers Perrin (now Towers Watson). She’s a qualified actuary and has a PhD in Engineering Science (Neural Networks and Signal Processing), and a First-Class Honours Degree in Engineering Science, both from the University of Oxford.
